In occupied Oleshky in Kherson Region, Russian troops are seizing humanitarian aid and detaining local residents who try to collect it. People are detained and brutally beaten.
This was stated by the head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, Oleksandr Prokudin.
According to him, about 2,000 Ukrainians remain in occupied Oleshky, including nearly 50 children. People are forced to survive without food, electricity and water, while Russian troops have effectively deprived them of any opportunity to leave the city.
Since March, Ukrainian forces, together with a unit of the 11th NGU Brigade and fighters of the 34th Separate Marine Brigade “Borysfen”, have been systematically delivering food across the Dnipro using drones.
Recently, one of the largest such operations was carried out. In coordination with the 30th Marine Corps, the tactical group “Hrim”, the 34th Marine Brigade “Borysfen”, the “Bolharychi” unit of the 11th NGU Brigade, the 34th National Guard Regiment and the 79th Border Detachment, around 4,000 tonnes of food were delivered to 100 designated locations in Oleshky.
Prokudin noted that Russian troops are trying to disrupt the delivery of aid. According to him, the occupiers shoot down drones carrying supplies, and seize or resell food intended for children and the elderly.
“For receiving humanitarian parcels, the occupiers detain Oleshky residents, throw them into basements, brutally beat them and resort to violence,” – the head of the Regional Military Administration said.
He also said that the deliberate blocking of aid and the creation of hunger among the civilian population are war crimes.
“Everyone involved in these actions will face inevitable accountability,” – Prokudin stressed.
- Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry has said that the international community must mobilise all available tools to reach people in the city of Oleshky in Kherson Region, deliver humanitarian aid and ensure the safe evacuation of those who want to leave.
- “People in temporarily occupied Oleshky are starving. There is almost nothing left to eat. According to available reports, the civilian population is being forced to survive by eating grass and weeds, while medicines, clean water, electricity and medical assistance are becoming increasingly inaccessible. Children are among those caught in these conditions,” Andrii Sybiha said.
- The All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organisations reported a critical humanitarian situation in temporarily occupied Oleshky, Kherson Region. The last food deliveries to Oleshky were at the end of May 2026. Residents remain without sufficient food, drinking water, medicines and other essential assistance.
