The European Union must be ready for a negotiating process if Vladimir Putin and Russia genuinely show a willingness to discuss peace.
Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo said this while commenting on a possible invitation for the Russian president to the G20 summit, ERR reports.
At the same time, the Finnish prime minister stressed that there are currently no signs of any such steps from Russia, as it continues to kill people in Ukraine. Orpo noted that Russian aggression has only united Europe, and that all potential threats had been anticipated from the outset of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
According to the head of Finland’s government, any attempts by Russia to apply hybrid pressure or stage provocations will not be able to weaken the unity of European countries or their determination to support Ukraine, but will only achieve the opposite effect.
