Moldovan border guards discovered drone debris on the evening of 26 September in the Ştefan Vodă district.

The debris was found at around 20:25 after a report from local residents. The area was immediately cordoned off to establish the circumstances of the incident.
On the same day, Moldova’s Ministry of Defence reported that a drone had entered the country’s airspace heading towards the settlement of Novokotovsk in the Transnistrian region.
Two minutes after being detected, the object left Moldova’s airspace and, via Pervomaisk, continued towards the settlement of Lymanske in Odesa Region.
On 26 September, Russia’s ambassador to Moldova, Oleg Ozerov, said that drones flying over Moldovan territory could be Russian. At the same time, he claimed their target was Ukraine, not Moldova.
According to the Moldovan authorities, since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Moldova’s airspace has been violated 81 times by missiles and drones of Russian and Iranian manufacture, including decoy drones.
In 2026, 41 such incidents were recorded.
