Preparations are under way for new sanctions packages against Russia.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this.
“New sanctions packages are being prepared, including against financial chains, schemes for supplying components and equipment used to produce Russian weapons, specific companies and individuals, primarily those involved in producing Russian ballistic missiles. The new sanctions should take effect as early as October to provide a stronger basis for changing the situation and pushing Russia towards genuine diplomacy,” the head of state said.
The President noted that in the United States, Lindsey Graham’s law has been applied only in part.
“In America, Lindsey Graham’s important sanctions-and-tariffs law is now already at the implementation stage. A law that could change a great deal for the better if it is applied in full... We are counting on effective decisions by the world and on increased pressure from partners so that Russia sees that its manipulation of diplomatic signals will not allow it, again and again, to buy extra time for war and terror. It is important that our other partners in the G7 and the G20 are also principled,” Zelenskyy stressed.
He underlined that “if Russia were truly preparing for any real steps towards de-escalation, as it claims, including to American negotiators, there would not have been this wave of ‘Shahed’ terror,” referring to a new attack on Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities.
