Amid international attention to the humanitarian situation in temporarily occupied Oleshky, Russia is trying to shift responsibility for it onto Ukraine.
This is reported by the Centre for Countering Disinformation.
According to the CCD, representatives of the Russian Foreign Ministry and the occupation administration are involved in spreading these claims.
In particular, the Russian side is circulating assertions about an alleged “deliberate blockade of the city by Ukrainian drones”, “shelling of civilian transport” and “mining of routes” by Ukrainian forces.
The CCD notes that in this way Russia is trying to discredit Ukraine’s efforts to rescue civilians and divert attention from the situation in the occupied territory.
According to the Centre, it is Russian troops who are blocking evacuation routes, preventing international humanitarian organisations from entering, and keeping Oleshky residents under conditions of an effective blockade.
The CCD also said that Russian troops destroyed the city’s critical infrastructure, leaving civilians without essential food and medicines.
The Centre for Countering Disinformation stresses that the spread of Russian claims about Ukraine’s alleged responsibility is part of an information campaign aimed at justifying Russia’s actions in the occupied territory.
