In Kyiv, different traffic rules will apply on bridges across the Dnipro during an air-raid alert. Temporary restrictions are in place on the Southern and Podilsko-Voskresenskyi bridges.

This is reported by the Kyiv City Military Administration.

On the Southern Bridge, during an air-raid alert, traffic from the left bank to the right bank will operate without restrictions. At the same time, traffic from the right bank to the left bank will be restricted for 15 minutes from the moment the air-raid alert is announced, after which it will be resumed.

Access to the Southern Bridge in the direction from the right bank to the left bank is via Stolychne Highway, Naddniprianske Highway and the Vydubychi bus station.

On the Podilsko-Voskresenskyi Bridge, if an air-raid alert is announced or cancelled, traffic will be halted in both directions for 15 minutes. After that, traffic will resume in full.

On the Northern and Darnytskyi bridges, the Paton and Metro bridges, traffic during an air-raid alert will operate without restrictions.

The Kyiv City Military Administration urges people to take this information into account when planning journeys.

Russian Strikes on Kyiv’s Bridges

  • On 1 October, the Russians carried out the first targeted attack on the Southern Bridge, which connects Kyiv’s left and right banks. They initially aimed at the supports, then at the road surface. The “green” metro line runs across the bridge and was the only one operating during yellow alerts.
  • As of the morning of 2 October, traffic on the Southern Bridge in Kyiv was completely closed. Russia attacked the Southern Bridge at least four times.
  • Following a meeting of the Kyiv Defence Council, Vitali Klitschko said that the metro is ready to restore services across the Southern Bridge after a series of hostile attacks, but only after receiving an expert assessment of the structure’s condition from research institutes.
  • On the morning of 3 October, after a series of attacks on the Southern Bridge, Russia attacked the Northern Bridge in Kyiv. Two people were injured. The overhead contact line was damaged. Traffic will be restricted until repairs are completed.
