Russia attacked the Northern Bridge in Kyiv after a series of strikes on the Southern Bridge. There are currently delays to public transport services.

This was reported by Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko and Kyivpastrans.

At 06:57, it became known that the Northern Bridge had been hit. Emergency services were heading to the scene.

Kyivpastrans reported delays to public transport. In particular, buses No. 21, 73, 101 and 114, as well as trolleybuses No. 29, 30, 31 and 47, are delayed.

Bus services No. 21, 73 and 101 have been organised along the following route: Podilskyi Bridge Crossing – Poshtova Ploshcha metro station – European Square.

Later, Klitschko said that as a result of Russia’s attack on the Northern Bridge, the road surface and the trolleybus overhead contact network were damaged.

Traffic across the bridge from the left bank to the right bank has currently been closed.

The Northern Bridge is an important link between major residential districts of Kyiv – Troieshchyna, Voskresenka, Raiduizhnyi and Obolon.

Russian Strikes on the Southern Bridge

  • On 1 October, Russians for the first time carried out a targeted attack on the Southern Bridge, which connects Kyiv’s left and right banks. They initially aimed at the supports, then at the road surface. The metro’s “green” line runs across the bridge and was the only one operating during yellow alerts.
  • As of the morning of 2 October, traffic across the Southern Bridge in Kyiv was completely closed. Russia has attacked the Southern Bridge at least four times.
