Russian forces struck a civilian cargo vessel flying the Liberian flag at one of the ports in Odesa Region. As a result of the attack, one crew member was killed and three other sailors were injured.
This was reported by the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority.
"Russian forces struck a civilian cargo vessel flying the Liberian flag at one of the ports in Odesa Region. Thirteen crew members were evacuated to a safe location. As a result of the attack, a motorman was killed and three other crew members were injured," the statement said.
The Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority noted that this was yet another Russian strike on civilian shipping and the merchant fleet.
The agency expressed condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased sailor and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
