In the temporarily occupied territories, the Russian occupation authorities are persuading local young people with supposed “great prospects” and urging them to obtain Russian documents. At the same time, this is leading to further isolation of young people.

This is reported by the Yellow Ribbon resistance movement.

According to activists, the occupation authorities are promising young people integration into the global community and opportunities for development in exchange for obtaining a Russian passport.

Yellow Ribbon says such documents may make it harder to access education abroad. They also stress that diplomas from educational institutions in the temporarily occupied territories are not recognised by most countries around the world.

“While the gauleiters paint a ‘bright future’ under the Russian tricolour, young people in the temporarily occupied territories are being deprived of access to international education and shut away in total isolation,” the statement says.

The resistance movement notes that, in this way, the Russian occupation authorities are using promises of “development” and “prospects” to deepen young people’s integration into the occupation system.
