The DOT Defence Procurement Agency has fully contracted the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ requirement for tactical headsets for 2026. This concerns 40,000 sets.
Ukraine’s Ministry of Defence reports this.
Tactical headsets must both protect soldiers’ hearing from gunfire and explosions and allow them to hear commands, signals and surrounding sounds.
Enhanced requirements have been set for the procurement. In particular, noise protection must be at least 28 dB, and the headsets must comply with the military standards MIL-STD-810H and MIL-STD-461G.
Operation at temperatures from -20 °C to +50 °C is also required, along with the use of materials that do not support combustion and compatibility with combat ballistic helmets.
In addition, the headsets must provide volume adjustment and have a power-saving function.
Procurement of such equipment to NATO standards was first announced last year. At the same time, a technical specification was developed with higher requirements for hearing protection, functionality and reliability.
- Ukraine has received a further €1.2 billion from the European Union under the Ukraine Support Loan. The funds received will be directed towards priority defence needs.
