Context
The strike came amid fighting for the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, which the Houthis seized two weeks ago. Forces backing Yemen’s internationally recognised government say they are advancing to regain control of the strategic sea route.
Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to Yemen said the strait had been freed from the Houthis. However, a military representative of the government forces уточнив, that so far they have managed to regain control only over part of the territory.
- On Thursday, several explosions were heard in the Saudi capital, including one at Riyadh airport, which led to flights being suspended. The Iran-backed Houthis from neighbouring Yemen said they had carried out a new attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh. They said a ballistic missile caused damage.
