Overnight into 14 October, Russians used 39 ballistic missiles and more than 120 attack drones and loitering munitions against Ukraine’s energy sector and critical infrastructure in Kyiv, Kyiv Region and Kharkiv. There are widespread power outages, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported.

He stressed that this was a deliberate Russian ballistic strike specifically on the energy sector, for which the US President had set out a ceasefire. At least 600,000 people are currently without electricity.

“There may be even larger outages. Unfortunately, there is significant damage to facilities and equipment at 26 elements of our power system and at four facilities in the oil and gas sector,” Zelenskyy said.

He urged the United States and everyone else to respond firmly.

“We ask President Trump to impose STRONG sanctions against Russia, especially as the Lindsey Graham law, which was recently passed and signed, allows for this and sets out the framework. The President of America has all the strong and sufficient tools to bring peace closer through strength, justice and pressure on the aggressor. We ask for additional packages of interceptor missiles for the ‘Patriots’ to be provided to Ukraine,” he said.
