The court has received an indictment against the former deputy head of Kyiv Customs.
NABU and SAPO accuse him of laundering more than $2m, which he invested in the construction of a hotel complex in Bukovel.
According to investigators, while working at Customs the official illegally amassed substantial wealth. During 2020–2021, he invested more than $2m in unjustified cash into building a hotel with a restaurant in the village of Polianytsia in Ivano-Frankivsk region.
To conceal the illegal wealth, the customs officer registered the property and land plots in the name of a close relative. At the same time, he continued to personally control the business and receive profits from its operations until 2025.
In March this year, law enforcement officers served the former official with a notice of suspicion, and by July they had completed the investigation. The former customs officer now faces between eight and 12 years in prison, with confiscation of property and a ban on holding certain positions.
