The Ministry of Defence has approved and codified the Thor hand-operated machine-gun turret made by the Ukrainian company Burevii. The company reported this on Facebook.

The turret is designed to mount Browning M2 and Canik M2 heavy machine guns. According to the manufacturer, the design allows the weapon to be aimed quickly and enables accurate fire against ground and aerial targets.

Among the Thor’s features, the manufacturer cites a lifting post for height adjustment, a spring-based damping system to reduce recoil, and a gas strut that reduces strain on the servicemember’s arms while operating the weapon. The turret can also be integrated with the Skylock system, which is intended to detect aerial targets and assist with aiming.

According to the developers, the Thor can be installed on pick-ups, fixed positions and modular platforms. Burevii is currently producing the turrets to order.
