Nova Poshta has joined a private air defence project and already has Russian drones shot down to its name. This was reported by the Interfax-Ukraine news agency, citing Nova Group co-owner Viacheslav Klymov.
“We are one of the few companies that has implemented this project. I don’t want to disclose the figures to you, but we have shot down Shaheds,” Klymov said during the 12th Kyiv International Economic Forum.
Klymov stressed that private air defence projects need to be developed further. In his words, business is capable of taking on tasks that, before the full-scale invasion, were considered the exclusive responsibility of the state.
The co-founder of Nova Poshta also noted that companies can set up their own fire services to deal with blazes at their facilities. He said the company’s staff put out a significant share of fires caused by Russian attacks themselves, without waiting for the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES) to arrive.
The main line of Nova Poshta’s business remains express delivery of documents, parcels and palletised oversized cargo.

The pilot project to involve the private sector in carrying out air defence measures began at the end of 2025. The project is intended to strengthen protection for employees, production capacity and company facilities that are systematically targeted by Russian drones.
The Ministry of Defence has noted that private air defence is part of Ukraine’s multi-layered airspace protection system. Private air defence groups do not operate independently; they are part of the overall system under the command of the Air Command of the Air Force. As of mid-October, almost 100 companies had joined the private air defence project.
Overall, around 50 air defence groups have been created, operating under the leadership of the relevant Air Force commands of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Groups from six companies are already carrying out combat missions, while others are undergoing training or completing their formation. The formed groups have already destroyed more than 60 aerial targets.
