Automated turrets have already destroyed more than 60 targets as part of the private air defence project. They are also in service with the Air Force. The Defence Ministry reported this.
The Brave1 defence technology cluster began developing automated turrets back in 2024. They are already in service with the Ukrainian Air Force and are destroying, among other things, Banderol jet-powered drones and Geran-5 drones.
“This is the result of systematic work, proving that the latest Ukrainian developments are capable of effectively countering aerial threats both at the front and over cities, protecting critical infrastructure,” the Defence Ministry said.
The private air defence project is being implemented in accordance with Resolution No. 1506 of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated 19 November 2025. It allows businesses to provide additional protection for their employees, production facilities and energy infrastructure sites, which are systematically targeted by Russian drones.
The Defence Ministry noted that private air defence is part of Ukraine’s multi-layered airspace protection system. Private air defence groups do not operate independently; they are part of the overall system under the command of the Air Force’s Air Command. As of mid-October, almost 100 companies had joined the private air defence project.
Overall, around 50 air defence groups have been set up, operating under the leadership of the relevant Air Force commands of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Groups from six companies are already carrying out combat missions, while others are undergoing training or completing their formation.
In particular, Nova Poshta has joined the private air defence project and already has Russian drones shot down to its name.
