In Zakarpattia Region, border guards uncovered a scheme for illegally smuggling people across the border.
This was reported by the State Border Guard Service.
Operatives from the Mukachevo Border Guard Detachment, together with the Strategic Investigations Department and the police, exposed a 23-year-old resident of Zakarpattia who was organising the illegal transfer of men across the border outside official checkpoints.
He expected to receive €10,000 for smuggling one person.
The suspect was detained on the outskirts of Rakhiv after the agreed sum was handed over.
He was served with a notice of suspicion under Part 3 of Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, and possible accomplices are being identified.
