On the evening of 31 October, two drones violated Romania’s airspace. The country scrambled four F-16 fighter jets.

This was reported by Romania’s Ministry of Defence.

The drones were detected in the north-eastern region of the country. To monitor and control the situation, the Romanian Air Force launched four F-16 fighter jets, as well as an IAR-330 SOCAT helicopter.

Due to the threat, the National Military Command Centre informed the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations to take preventive measures. Residents of the counties of Iași, Neamț, Vaslui, Botoșani, Bacău and Suceava were issued a warning.

One of the drones left Romania’s airspace, while the other was last detected on the border between Vaslui and Bacău counties.

No reports were received of drones crashing or debris falling. The air raid alert was later cancelled.
