JSC Ukrzaliznytsia has received six new Ukrainian-made passenger carriages. They will soon be deployed on the Kharkiv–Przemyśl route.
This was reported by Ukraine’s Minister for Recovery, Infrastructure and Transport, Mykola Kalashnyk.
According to him, the new carriages have been equipped with rechargeable batteries that can keep lighting, air conditioning and other systems operating for an extended period in the event of a power cut.
Since the start of 2026, Ukrzaliznytsia has received 44 new passenger carriages. A further 16 are due to be delivered by the end of the year. The procurement of rolling stock is funded from the state budget.
Kalashnyk also singled out the work of the train crew led by Tetiana Sizova, which serves the Kharkiv–Przemyśl route. Since the beginning of autumn, the team has carried out 30 evacuations. Sizova herself led more than 50 civilian evacuation runs in 2022 from the Zaporizhzhia and Pokrovsk directions.
The minister also emphasised the crew’s attentiveness to passengers with disabilities. Staff assist people who use wheelchairs, passengers with visual impairments, and anyone who needs additional support.
Ukrzaliznytsia noted that it continues to renew its rolling stock, restore damaged infrastructure and ensure stable rail connections.
- Ukrzaliznytsia announced the launch of new international rail services, one of which has become a flagship. The “Kyiv–Chełm” route has been named after Mykhailo Hrushevskyi.
