The acting director of the Les Kurbas Centre has been appointed as theatre producer and cultural manager Kristina Kisielovaite.

This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister for Humanitarian Policy and Minister of Culture Tetiana Berezhna.

Kristina Kisielovaite is the founder of KЇ Platforma. According to the minister, her experience matches the Centre team’s need for new partnerships, a broader international presence and renewed management processes.

The institution’s priorities include supporting contemporary Ukrainian playwriting, strengthening the link between academic research and theatre practice, and promoting Les Kurbas’s legacy worldwide.

The new head’s first step will be to familiarise herself with all of the Centre’s departments, their projects and plans. On that basis, a development strategy for the institution for the next few years is to be drawn up.

Kristina Kisielovaite has also been invited to present the strategy at a public meeting with the theatre community. The Ministry of Culture will support the Centre’s team in this work.

Kristina Kisielovaite is a theatre producer, founder and CEO of KЇ Platforma and the international festival KЇ FEST. She has worked at three state theatres: Kyiv’s Ivan Franko Theatre and Lesia Ukrainka Theatre, as well as Lviv’s Maria Zankovetska Theatre.

She was director of the Veterans Theatre, an independent initiative working with veterans of the Russo-Ukrainian war. Kisielovaite actively advocates separating managerial and artistic functions in Ukrainian theatres, transparent competitions for leadership posts, and strengthening the institutional capacity of cultural institutions.
