President Volodymyr Zelensky met with Germany’s Defence Minister Boris Pistorius and discussed strengthening Ukraine’s air defences amid Russian strikes on critical infrastructure.
The head of state shared the outcome of the meeting on social media.
“There are a great many strikes every day on our energy sector, and the situation with ballistic missiles is especially difficult because of a chronic shortage of interceptors for the Patriots. It is important to find new solutions to support the protection of lives,” the President wrote.
Zelensky noted that Ukraine has a contract to purchase German PAC-2 missiles for the next two years. The sides will work to accelerate their delivery, which, as the President noted, would help Ukraine get through the winter.
The teams will also work through other issues, including the supply of IRIS-T systems and munitions for the F-16. Zelensky thanked Germany for its support.
