Servicemen from the Bulgarian Navy inspected and destroyed an unmanned aerial vehicle found on a beach near Cape Shabla.
This was reported on the website of the Bulgarian Ministry of Defence.
The alert about an unknown object was received from the duty officer at the Ministry of the Interior at 10.00 on 6 November. After approval by the Chief of Defence and an order from the Deputy Commander of the Navy, a special team from the naval base in Varna was dispatched to the scene.
Specialists determined that the drone had likely fallen into the sea, after which waves washed it ashore. There were no markings on the body of the device, but the military classified it as a Russian ‘Gerbera’-type drone.
Specialists neutralised the find on site. An inspection showed that the drone was not carrying explosives.
- Last month, drones attacked two vessels off Bulgaria’s Black Sea coast, causing one of them to sink.
