In Ukraine, since the start of 2026, 61 healthcare facilities have begun generating their own electricity. To achieve this, solar power plants with a total capacity of 4,400 kW were commissioned under the “Ray of Hope” project.

This was reported by Ukraine’s Ministry of Energy.

It is noted that as of the end of October, a further 147 projects in healthcare facilities are at various stages of implementation.

The installation of equipment at 61 healthcare facilities was made possible thanks to international support. In particular, 39 facilities received assistance from Germany, 12 from Sweden, five from the United Kingdom, and two from the European Union.

One additional healthcare facility each was provided with equipment with support from Belgium, Canada and the Netherlands.

The “Ray of Hope” project is a joint initiative of the European Commission, the Ministry of Energy and the Ministry of Health of Ukraine. It is being implemented within the Ukraine Energy Support Fund, coordinated by the Secretariat of the Energy Community.

The programme’s aim is to strengthen hospitals’ energy resilience by installing solar panels, energy storage systems and other equipment. This is intended to ensure a more stable electricity supply and the uninterrupted operation of healthcare facilities even in challenging conditions.
