The Ministry of Defence and the Brave1 defence cluster are developing a technology that makes it possible to control a group of drones simultaneously even under Russian electronic warfare, the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine writes.
Thanks to the introduction of coordinated multi-drone control (multi drone control), one Ukrainian unit was able to double the amount of cargo delivered to the front line over the course of a month.
The technology is being developed and scaled up by the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine together with the Brave1 defence innovation cluster. It provides for the simultaneous autonomous flight of a group of UAVs to a designated point without using GPS.
The operator sets an area on the map, after which the system automatically calculates routes for all drones and prevents collisions. The drones take off in sequence and move towards their destination. Even under electronic warfare, they maintain orientation thanks to secure communications.
All drones are displayed in a single control interface. The operator can switch between them with a single click and move to manual control at the final stage of the mission.
Among the first to systematically use this technology for logistics missions were servicemen of the 108th Separate Assault Battalion “Da Vinci Wolves” of the 59th Separate Assault Brigade of Unmanned Systems named after Yakiv Handziuk.
Over a month of using coordinated control, the amount of cargo delivered by the unit doubled.
The Ministry of Defence notes that it continues to develop and scale up technological solutions that help Ukrainian troops improve the effectiveness of carrying out tasks on the front line.
