Ukrainian company Ukrspetsdronprom presented a new RP7 Chomga fixed-wing unmanned aircraft at the IRON HALLOWEEN PARTY 2026 exhibition. The drone was developed as a modular platform for reconnaissance, strike and special missions. This is reported by the publication Oboronka, whose correspondent attended the exhibition.

Chomga is built to a classic aircraft layout and requires a runway up to 50 metres long for take-off and landing. The drone can be controlled via the SkyLoki analogue radio-control system developed by Ukrspetsdronprom, which has increased resistance to electronic warfare interference, or using a Starlink satellite terminal and a remote-control system with an integrated LTE modem, the developers said.

Technical specifications

According to the manufacturer, the RP7 Chomga’s maximum payload is 15 kg. Its cruising speed is 75 km/h, with a maximum of 110 km/h. The unmanned aircraft can operate at altitudes of up to 1,500 metres and remain airborne for up to 90 minutes.

The developers note that in the bomber configuration with a 15 kg payload, the tactical range is up to 60 km with the ability to return to base. In the kamikaze variant with a warhead of the same mass, the one-way range reaches 100–125 km. A laser designation system provides guidance at distances of up to 3 km from altitudes of up to 1,500 metres.

For less demanding missions, the company has developed a lightweight modification, Light Chomga. It is designed to carry a payload of up to 5 kg over distances of up to 80 km.

Configurations for different missions

In the reconnaissance-strike variant, the RP7 Chomga M-Fly is equipped with a laser target designator that provides guidance for RP7-10 SkyLoki FPV drones with integrated optical seekers for autonomous engagement.

In the role of a mothership aircraft, Chomga can carry up to three RP7-10 strike drones with a 1 kg warhead, or two unmanned aircraft with enlarged batteries.

To intercept aerial targets, the platform can carry three high-speed RP7-Zenit anti-aircraft drones integrated with the SineLink system. According to the manufacturer, RP7-Zenit drones have an all-up weight including the warhead of 0.4 kg. Their speed reaches 250 km/h, and in afterburner mode up to 320 km/h. Flight endurance is up to 20 minutes, the developers say.

Support for strike groups is intended to be provided by the RP7-15-RLY SkyLoki Ultra+ relay. At the same time, the developers abandoned the use of Chomga itself as a permanent relay due to its vulnerability when flying at low speeds. For this function, a separate tethered relay on an aerostat was created, capable of operating for up to 10 hours.

At present, the Chomga platform is fully ready for practical operational use in the air. Ukrspetsdronprom is in talks with military units about transferring the unmanned aircraft for trial combat operation. The next stage is expected to be testing the system’s capabilities and its various tactical configurations directly on the line of contact.

According to a Ukrspetsdronprom representative, the cost of the system, depending on the chosen communications suite, ranges from $5,000 to $7,000. A separate feature of the design is its field repairability. To restore the unmanned aircraft, basic tools are sufficient.
