Zelenskyy Instructs Koretskyi to Prepare Free Travel Scheme for Kyiv Surface Transport

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has instructed Prime Minister Serhii Koretskyi to present a programme for free travel on the city’s surface public transport and to ensure an adequate reserve of buses for Kyiv.

As noted on the President’s Telegram channel, this was discussed during a conference call meeting.

During the meeting, he heard reports on the situation in Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia and other frontline communities. Separately, they discussed challenges in Kyiv. The Prime Minister, the Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council, and the Minister of Internal Affairs presented options for contingency transport schemes for the capital. The required number of vehicles is being assessed, along with the reorganisation of traffic in designated parts of Kyiv.

“It is important that the government also prepares specific measures to support the uninterrupted and reliably accessible operation of the city’s surface public transport in the event of disruptions to the metro or problems with bridges across the Dnipro,” Zelenskyy said.

He added that restoration work is continuing in the Dnipropetrovsk region after today’s strikes.

“Dnipro, Pavlohrad, Kamianske, and other cities and communities in the region. At the peak of the outages, more than 600,000 customers were without electricity — people, businesses, and critical infrastructure. Power supply is being gradually restored,” Zelenskyy said.

The President also reported that separate tasks had been set for Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the diplomatic team of the Office of the President ahead of international events in the coming weeks. New packages of energy support for Ukraine and additional financial instruments are also being prepared to support Ukrainians this winter.
