President Petro Poroshenko has issued a decree enacting the decision of the National Security and Defence Council to impose sanctions on individuals involved in illegal actions against Ukrainian MP and pilot Nadiya Savchenko, film director Oleh Sentsov and activist Oleksandr Kolchenko.
The list includes 84 individuals.
After Russia sentenced Nadiya Savchenko to 22 years in prison on trumped up charges, President Petro Poroshenko announced that those involved in her persecution would be subjected to sanctions. Ukraine also asked the West to follow suit.
Oleh Sentsov was sentenced to 20 years in a Russian prison and Oleksandr Kolchenko to 10 years. Both Ukrainians from Crimea were found guilty of terrorism on trumped up charges.
