The level of Spanish investments in the economy of Ukraine is very low at about 60m dollars. However, Spanish business community is willing to invest in Ukrainian economy after protection of investments improves.
"The first question the Spaniards ask when we talk about investments is the legal protection. They believe the protection of investment in Ukraine is still poor," Ukraine's Ambassador to Spain Anatoly Shcherba said on 21 September in an exclusive interview to LB.ua.
"We try to convince them that things have changed and the situation has improved. The Association Agreement and free trade zone have opened new opportunities. We emphasize that Ukraine is geographically much closer than, for example, Latin America," said the ambassador.
He said the diplomatic mission to Madrid plans to hold in the near future a presentation of privatization projects with the participation of the State Property Fund of Ukraine.
