President Petro Poroshenko says that Ukraine has signed over 40 contracts for the supply of various defence items worth 1.5bn.
"We appreciate the support from our Western partners. As of today, more than 40 contracts worth 1.5bn dollars are effective for the supply of various means of defence." Poroshenko said at an award ceremony on the occasion of the Day of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on 6 December.
Since the beginning of the armed conflict in Donbass, Ukraine has been seeking arms supplies from Western countries. Western countries has been refusing to provide lethal weapons but willingly supply defensive weaponry.
