Only half ministries, state agencies have English versions of websites

In 2016, 1,400 civil servants passed English training programs.

Only 11 ministries and 23 central executive agencies have English version of websites, Deputy Head of Presidential Administration Dmyro Shymkiv told a roundtable conference at Gorshenin Institute on 12 December.

"Only 11 Ukrainian ministries out of 18 have English versions of websites. There is no English version of the websites of the Ministry of Regional Development and the Ministry of Infrastructure, the ministries of health, energy and coal, social policy, the Ministry for the Occupied Territories. The Education and Science Ministry is to launch [the English version] before the end of the year," Shymkiv told the conference dedicated to the closure of the Year of English in Ukraine.

As regards the central government authorities of Ukraine, only 23 out of 48, and only 9 regional state administrations have English versions of websites, Shymkiv went on.

At the same time, over the passing year 1,396 civil servants have improved their level of English thanks to donor support. In particular, 599 civil servants received level A1 / A2 (basic level) of English with the support of Ukraine-NATO training program.
