Speaker declines to make public coalition line-up

Andriy Parubiy cited the lack of authority.

The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Andriy Parubiy has refused to make public the list of members of the ruling coalition, saying he had no authority to count members neither of the coalition nor the opposition.

Speaking to reporters in Drohobych on 13 February, Parubiy reminded that in addition to two factions the coalition also includes many nonaligned deputies. "I do not have enough data to give you the number of the deputies," the speaker said.

The speaker dismissed the requirement of the Fatherland faction to promulgate the list of members of the coalition as "politicized and aimed at destabilization of the Verkhovna Rada with a view to early elections". This, in his opinion, is a "non-Ukrainian scenario" aimed to unbalance the Ukrainian government.

Last week, Fatherland officially requested the Speaker to make public the list of all members of the coalition.
