Ukraine must look for breakthrough solutions and take risks rather than maintaining a balance to achieve success, Infrastructure Minister Volodymyr Omelyan said on 28 November at the VIII National Expert Forum organized by Gorshenin Institute.
"Ukrainian government is trying to maintain a balance and not upset the equilibrium, which is why reforms boil down to roads repair (50% support) while corrupt officials are detained but not imprisoned. However, only the rich countries can afford the balance," Omelyan said.
The minister offers to stake on digital economy and risky creative solutions to compete on global markets instead of shutting down. Volodymyr Omelyan believes that agrarian sector can become the driver of the economy, or an innovative rather than the traditional banking system.
"The equilibrium keeps a stranglehold on the infrastructure hampering its development... We ought to break the balance," said minister.
