Ukrainian ombudsperson Lyudmyla Denisova has said that Ukrainian film director Oleh Sentsov, who was convicted in Russia on trumped-up charges, is having heart and kidney problems because of hunger strike.
"I have just talked to lawyer Oleh Sentsov. Today he eventually met Oleh in the colony. In his words, Oleh is in the medical ward. He is having kidney and heart problems," Denisova said on Facebook.
Sentsov drinks 3.5 k of water and gets IV drippers every day. According to Denisova, on the 26th day of the hunger strike, he felt so sick, he was taken to an external hospital for force feeding. He refused to be force-fed while doctors did not insist on this fearing publicity.
According to the lawyer, the situation may repeat any time.
Oleh Sentsov has been on hunger strike since 14 May, demanding that Russia release all Ukrainian political prisoners.
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko raised the issue of Ukrainian political prisoners in a phone conversation with Putin.
