The EU has allocated 500m euros of the first tranche of macrofinancial aid to Ukraine.
"Today the EU disburses EUR 500 million of macro-financial assistance to Ukraine. The EU continues its strong engagement in #Ukraine, and support for its people #EUUkraine," the vice-president of the EU Commission for Financial Stability, Financial Services and Capital Markets Union, Valdis Dombrovskis, tweeted.
He added that the EU continues to support Ukraine.
A source in the Finance Ministry confirmed the transfer.
The European Commission approved the 500m-euro tranche on 30 November.
