The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry will not register Russian official observers at the Ukrainian presidential election. The OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) has been informed accordingly, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin said.
"I do not see any collision here. We have clearly said that the Foreign Ministry will not register Russian observers at the next elections… We have sent a statement to this effect to the OSCE ODIHR," he said at a joint news conference with Czech Foreign Minister Tomas Petricek in Kyiv.
"It is even legally impossible to allow Russian observers to [monitor] elections," Klimkin said. "I hope that the Central Electoral Commission will not register Russian official observers. This would be absolutely wrong from the political, legal or moral point of view."
Ukrainians will go to polls to elect the next president on 31 March 2019.
