Only people wearing face masks will be allowed to board public transport in Kyiv during the quarantine period, a deputy head of the Kyiv city state administration, Mykola Povoroznyk, has said at a briefing.

The number of public transport will not be increased, neither will there be additional services to parallel the subway lines which will close as of 11 p.m. tonight.

According to the city authorities, people are advised to stay home, hence no additional buses or trolleybuses.

“Transport will only operate for those who urgently need to leave their homes to go to work, a drugstore or a hospital,” Povoroznyk said.

Companies that cannot suspend operations or let their staff work from home will ensure travel options for their workers. This concerns medics, in particular.

No more than 10 people with vehicles are allowed per public transport vehicle as of 18 March. It will be up to drivers to check the number of passengers. In case of disobedience, they may call in the police.
