Apartment Block in Kyiv Damaged by Missile: Fire Is Extinguished, but Danger of Collapse Remains

After a missile attack, the fire has been extinguished in the apartment block at 6A Lobanovskoho Avenue in Kyiv. However, stories 22 and 23 may still collapse.

The information comes from the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.

“At 8:45 a.m. on February 26, the fire in the apartment block at 6A Lobanovskoho Avenue was put out. The information on the number of casualties is being verified. Stories 22 and 23 are in danger of collapse. Head of the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, A. Vatolin is on the scene,” reports the State Emergency Service.

Later, the Service added: “Stories 21, 22, 23 and 24 were inspected. There are no casualties. First responders are evacuating all the residents of the apartment block, although exit from some of the apartments is difficult. Fire-fighters had to contain several fire areas. At 9:05 a.m., the fire was extinguished. Moreover, fire-fighters and first responders have to wait in a shelter repeatedly due to the enemy threat. The information on the casualties is being verified.”

The apartment building at 6A Lobanovskoho Avenue was hit by a Russian missile in the morning of February 26.

After heavy fighting, the town of Vasylkiv in Kyiv Oblast remained under control of the Ukrainian forces.

At 7 o’clock in the morning, on February 26, an adviser to the Ukrainian Presidential Office, Mykhailo Podolyak reported that the situation on the entire territory of Ukraine was under control. The enemy has sent all its reserves to Kyiv, but the capital is successfully defending itself.
