In the villages near Nova Kakhovka, in Kherson region, people haven’t had power and access to potable water for three days. This was anonymously reported to LB.ua by the locals. “There are shootings of civilians every day. Something exploded near our house, the windows were blown out, and the doors are broken. We found some splinters in the yard. The blow was so powerful that in the basement, where we were hiding, the ceiling began to crumble. People can’t go outside. Many don’t have mobile connection already. Phone batteries are low. We were able to charge our phones at our neighbours’, who have a generator,” says a local woman.
Another woman informs that they hear shots and explosions from the side of the nearest villages, Kosatske and Vesele, all the time. The locals say that the reason why Russian tanks are moving in residential areas is that this way Ukrainian soldiers may not be able to respond without hurting civilians.
Suspilne informs that the mayor of Nova Kakhovka Volodymyr Kovalenko is negotiating with the commanders of the Russian occupiers about opening a “green corridor” for the villagers of Vesele and Kosatske. In the village of Mala Kakhovka, for now there is no Russian military equipment or soldiers, says another local woman, Olha. She adds that in the neighbouring city Kakhovka, yellow-blue flags are on all official institutions. Life in the city is relatively calm.
“Shops are working, although, of course, not all of them. Pharmacies are working, but we couldn’t buy antibiotics for our child because everything is being sold out. Unfortunately, they can’t replenish their stock just yet. But things are not so good in Nova Kakhovka. Messages are coming all the time that the city is full of Russian equipment. Civilians and a few cars were attacked. People are scared to go outside, but at least they have water and electricity. For now, the situation is the worst in Vesele and Kosatske”.
We remind you that three days ago, Kherson regional state administration informed us that there is military equipment in the city of Nova Kakhovka. The Kakhovka Hydroelectric Station and the crossing through the North Crimean Canal are captured.
