Russia’s membership in the Council of Europe’s Committee MONEYVAL (Council of Europe Committee of Experts on the Evaluation of Measures to Combat Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing, - LB.ua).
This is stated in the message from the State Financial Monitoring Service of Ukraine on its official Facebook page.
By the decision of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe from 25.02.2022 №DLAPIL07/2022_JP/DG «Consequences of the suspension of a member state per Article 8 of the Statute of the Council of Europe,» Russia has been left without a right to represent their country in the institutions of the Council of Europe and their departmental bodies”, - the text states.
Thus, according to the State Financial Monitoring Service of Ukraine, Russia would not be represented at the meetings of the Committee of Experts of the Council of Europe on the Evaluation of Measures to Combat Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing (MONEYVAL), as well as several other departmental bodies of the Council of Europe.
It also means that Russia will not be able to participate in MONEYVAL Plenary and working group meetings, experts from this country will not be able to participate in other Committee assessments of FATF Standards and the effectiveness of anti-money laundering systems, financing terrorism and financing the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. They will also not be able to participate in making any decisions on the platform of the MONEYVAL Committee.
The State Financial Monitoring Service of Ukraine will continue to take comprehensive measures within its competence to further isolate Russia in the international arena in connection with its flagrant violations of fundamental principles and norms of international law.
