Josep Borrell, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy informed, Interfax-Ukraine reports.
"As the full-scale war continues and we want to do everything we can to support Ukraine, we have decided to use our capabilities to provide lethal weapons, lethal aid to Ukrainian army worth 450m euros of support packages and non-lethal materials - fuel, protective equipment worth another 50m euros," - said Borrell.
"This is the first time in our history we are doing this, and everyone agreed with it, at least they did not prevent us from taking this decision," - he added.
According to available information the supplies will be delivered through Poland territory.
Earlier we informed about the statement of the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen. As she said it is the first time the EU has decided on "financing, purchasing and delivering weapons and equipment to the country under attack."
let us remind you that Germany will deliver Ukraine 1,000 units anti-tank weapons and 500 Stinger missiles.
Germany has also allowed the Netherlands to provide Ukraine with 400 Light Artillery Rocket System to help fight Russian invaders.
