Japan to provide $200m in aid to Ukraine

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced that Japan had increased financial support for Ukraine to $ 200 million, he wrote on Twitter after talks with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.

He also said that Japan fully supports tough sanctions against Russia.

Earlier, Japan declared that it would join anti-Russian sanctions against Russia because of its actions against Ukraine. Restrictive measures include a ban on the issuance of Russian bonds in Japan, a freeze on the assets of some Russians and a travel ban. The Japanese Foreign Ministry reminded that Russia had occupied the southern part of the Kuril Islands, which is contrary to international law.
