The United Nations International Court of Justice will hold a public hearing “Ukraine vs. Russi” on March 7 and 8 at the Peace Palace in The Hague.
This was reported by "Interfax-Ukraine" with reference to the Court’s press service.
The hearing will focus on the interim measures requested by Ukraine.
"In connection with the current COVID-19 pandemic, hearings will be held in a hybrid format. Some members of the Court will personally attend the oral hearings in the Great Hall of Justice, while others will participate remotely via video. Representatives of the parties will attend in person or by video link, " the press release states.
The “Ukraine vs. Russia” case alleges genocide. In addition, the Court notes that on March 1, the President of the International Court of Justice, Judge Joan E. Donogyu, addressed an urgent appeal to the Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation with a copy of the Government of Ukraine in the genocide allegation.
"I have the honor to refer to the Request for Interim Measures taken in the proceedings against Ukraine against the Russian Federation on 26 February 2022. Acting in accordance with Article 74 § 4 of the Rules of Court, I draw the Russian Federation's attention to the need to act in such a way as to allow the Court’s request for interim measures to have the appropriate effect,” the appeal reads.
We will remind you that earlier, the prosecutor of the International criminal court in The Hague Karim Khan initiated an investigation into Russia’s crimes against Ukraine. He describes the actions of the occupier as "war crimes" and "crimes against humanity".
