Payment cards emitted by banks of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus are no longer valid in Ukraine.
The official website of the National Bank informs about that.
Since the 1st of March, 2022, the National Bank of Ukraine has prohibited:
-
crediting funds to accounts of clients - natural persons on transfers initiated with the use of payment cards issued by banks of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus;
-
receptions of payment cards issued by banks of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus in Ukraine(including transfers, payments and cash disbursements).
“Financial support for armed aggression against Ukraine must be stopped. Therefore, the bank cards of the aggressor countries will not work in Ukraine, nor will the enemy be able to send funds for terrorists and their supporters. The prohibition on accepting Russia and Belarus bank cards is our next step in the financial defense of Ukraine,” underlined Oleksii Shaban, Deputy Governor at the National Bank of Ukraine.
We remind that the National Bank has also urged the international payment systems Visa and MasterCard to stop the service of payment cards emitted by resident banks of the Russian Federation.
We also remind that the head of the National Bank of Ukraine, Kyrylo Shevchenko, asked the IMF to limit the access of the Russian Federation and Belarus to the Fund’s resources.
