In the Luhansk region, the former deputy of the Luhansk regional council, "regional" chairman of the Kreminets OTG Volodymyr Struk, was found dead.
Adviser to the Minister of Internal Affairs Anton Gerashchenko announced it.
"There is minus one traitor of Ukraine. Volodymyr Struk, Chairman of the Kreminetsky OTG of the Luhansk region, former deputy of the Luhansk regional council, was found dead. In 2014 he was an active supporter of the Luhansk People's Republic. Then he left for the part of the Luhansk region free from occupation. In the last week, he actively took a pro-Russian position, agitating OTG deputies to communicate with Russia and the LPR, gathering deputies on this occasion," he wrote in his Telegram channel.
Gerashchenko said that on 1 March, Struk's wife stated that unknown individuals in camouflage uniforms had abducted her husband.
The preliminary cause of death was a gunshot wound to the heart.
"The entire state apparatus of Ukraine such as SBU, MFA, Prosecutor's Office, Courts haven't been able to do anything with the outspoken separatist Struk for eight years because he had much money, which is most likely support from Russia. However, when Russian troops approached Kreminna at a distance of 15 km, the court of the People's Tribunal tried Volodymyr Struk. Unknown patriots shot him as a traitor under the laws of war," Gerashchenko added.
In 2014, during the "Russian Spring", Struk called on overthrowing the constitutional order in Ukraine and organised a pseudo-referendum in Luhansk. In addition, he financed the so-called "self-defence detachment" and the Mozgovyy terrorist group, organised field kitchens with the inscription "For the Young Republic", persecuted pro-Ukrainian journalists.
After the failure of the Novorossiya project, Struk and his family fled to the United States.
The Prosecutor's office instituted two criminal proceedings against him on suspicion of committing financial acts committed with the aim of overthrowing the constitutional order of Ukraine and encroaching on the territorial integrity of the state.
However, in 2020, Struk was elected Kreminna Mayor.
