The suspect in the case of the murder of activist Kateryna Gandziuk, former head of the Kherson Regional State Administration Vladislav Manger, has issued a statement requesting to join the Armed Forces.

Manger published a statement addressed to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Facebook.

"Dear Mr President of Ukraine! I apologize for addressing you publicly in such difficult times, but for the third time since the beginning of Russia's war with Ukraine, I ask you to allow me to join the Armed Forces of Ukraine and defend my homeland with weapons," he said.

He stressed that his native Kherson region is on fire now; his children are sitting in basements under fire.

"It is my duty as a person, as a Ukrainian, to beat the enemy now. I have combat experience as a volunteer in the anti-terrorist operation. I know how to defend my homeland. So once again, I ask you to allow me to defend my homeland," he added.

According to Vladislav Manger, today is not the time to find out why he has been detained for almost two years.

"When we drive the enemy out of Ukraine, we will return to my case in court," the former head of the regional state administration summed up.

As you know, the Russian occupation troops entirely occupied the building of the Kherson regional state administration. However, the head of the regional state administration, Hennadiy Lahuta, claims that local authorities have not stopped doing their responsibilities.

Lahuta later said that Russian troops had begun to mine Kherson.
