Ruslan Stefanchuk, chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, had a conversation with the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, and the heads of parliament of EU member countries. He proposed steps to counter Russian aggression.
Stefanchuk reported this on his Facebook page.
Among Stefanchuk's proposals:
-
Continuation of the sanctions pressure on the Russian Federation.
"There should be more Russian banks disconnected from SWIFT. We expect the European partners to give up Russian raw materials," noted the Speaker of Ukraine's parliament;
-
Provision of food and medicine to the inhabitants and establishment of "green corridors" for the evacuation of people;
-
Increased funding for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which today guard not only our country but the entire civilized world;
-
the no-fly zone over Ukraine;
-
Support urgent EU membership for Ukraine.
"In addition, I have asked for the complete cessation of any contacts with Russian deputies on the parliamentary line. The permanent delegations of the Russian Federation to the parliamentary assemblies of various international organizations should be completely isolated until the aggression stops," – Stefanchuk stressed.
We remind that today, on the 4th of March, the Head of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine addressed the world's parliaments and governments with a request to close the sky over Ukraine due to the shelling of Russian occupiers of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant.
