During the six days of the war with Russia, more than 835.000 people left Ukraine. Radio Svoboda writes about it with reference to the official representative of the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, Shabi Mantu.

According to Polish President Andrzej Duda, approximately 500,000 Ukrainian citizens have arrived in the country. In addition, more than 100,000 Ukrainians crossed the border with Hungary, and dozens of thousands traveled to Moldova, Romania, and Slovakia, the newspaper said.
Citizens of Ukraine have the right to visa-free entry into EU countries, which means they can cross the border without hindrance. Local authorities and non-governmental organizations help them find accommodation, food, and clothes. The EU suggests that all Ukrainians running away from the war are granted the rights of asylum seekers, even if they do not formally apply.
On 28 February 2022, UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi said that the total number of Ukrainian refugees could reach 4 million.
