Shmyhal calls on IAEA and EU to send peacekeeping groups to all five Ukrainian nuclear power plants

In his video address, the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal called on the IAEA and the EU to ensure the arrival of peacekeeping groups at all five nuclear power plants in Ukraine.

These groups should consist of representatives of the EU, IAEA, the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine (SNRIU), said the Prime Minister.

"Radiation has no borders. The whole world is a possible zone of destruction. Once again, I call on the international community, represented by the IAEA and the EU, to ensure the arrival of peacekeeping groups of the EU, IAEA and SNRIU at all five nuclear power plants in Ukraine. This is the question of safety for the whole world!”- Shmyhal.

As previously reported, the IAEA held a meeting and adopted a resolution strongly condemning the actions of the Russian Federation in Ukraine. In particular, it is about forced seizure of control over nuclear facilities in Ukraine.

Due to the fire caused by the shelling Zaporizhzhia atomic power plant by the Russian army, the IAEA has launched a response center, which operates 24/7.
