Shell will not stop buying Russian oil

Oil giant Royal Dutch Shell has decided not to stop financing Russia by buying Russian oil but will invest the profits from its sale into a humanitarian aid fund to Ukraine. Ukrainska Pravda reported this information referring to the company's press service.

We should recall that the day before, the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba addressed Shell on Twitter after Shell bought a consignment of Russian Urals oil at a record discount, despite the massive rejection of Russian energy resources by other companies. "I was told that Shell had secretly bought Russian oil yesterday. One question to Shell: does not Russian oil smell Ukrainian blood to you? I address all conscious people around the world to demand that multinational companies cut all business ties with Russia" Kuleba wrote.

In response, Shell issued a statement justifying the purchase. The company said it would choose an alternative to Russian oil where possible, but this could not happen instantly due to Russia's role in global supplies.

"We didn't take this decision lightly and we understand the strength of feeling around it." Shell wrote.

Shell also said it would donate all the profits from the amount of Russian oil it buys to a special fund and work with other agencies to determine the best use for it to help Ukraine.
