The assistant of the People's Deputy of Ukraine is suspected of passing information about Ukraine’s defense capabilities to the Russian special services for money.
This was reported by the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office.
"The consulting assistant of the People's Deputy of Ukraine is suspected of treason, i.e. intentional assistance to a foreign state representative in carrying out subversive activities against the defense, state and economic security of Ukraine (Part 1 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine)," - the message says.
The Prosecutor General office did not reveal the name of the deputy whose assistant was detained, but according to Ukrainska Pravda, he is a representative of the OPFL party.
According to the investigation, the suspect collected information about the defense, state, economic and information security of Ukraine, and passed it on to the FSB RF officers in exchange for money from October 2014 to February 2022.
He personally compiled analytical reports on the economic, state and social situation in Ukraine and relations between political forces represented in the Verkhovna Rada. In addition, he compiled the materials that concerned the provision of economic and defense assistance to Ukraine by Western partners using analytical reports of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, which were provided at the request of People Deputies of Ukraine.
"During the entire period of his criminal activity, the suspect received about $80,000 from the FSB RF," - the Prosecutor General's Office said.
The man was detained and taken into custody in accordance with the provisions of Art. 615 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine for a period of 30 days.
We’re reminding, that yesterday the territorial defense of the capital detained the deputy of OPFL Nestor Shufrych. This happened when the people's deputy tried to photograph the checkpoint.
The people's deputy himself explained that he was "taking a selfie" at the moment when the fighters caught him. Today Shufrych was released, and he himself stated that law enforcement officers did not find anything criminal in the photos he took.
